Friday Update 8-16-24
Updated On: Sep 08, 2024

Brothers and Sisters,

Today, we want to begin with a thank you to all our members serving on the strikes team and those filling in stations to ensure all our California communities are safe. Pictured above are members from our LA County Strike Teams 1120A currently stationed at the Park Fire on Day 6, which has burned over 435,000 acres.

Our members have been working extremely hard but continue to have amazing attitudes as they, together with our partner agencies across the state, fight one of the largest fires in California history. We are living up to and exceeding our reputation as the hardest-working firefighters in the state!  Thank you for all you do and for the sacrifice we know this put on your emails as we get the job done.
LA COUNTY FIRE SAFETY  - MEASURE E

This week we hit another major milestone in our fight to get the LA County Fire Safety Measure passed on November 2024.

We submitted our ballot argument and list of supporters to the Registrar-Recorder. We also received an endorsement from the California Professional Firefighters and the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, representing nearly 1 million workers in LA County. We also officially received our ballot designation as Measure E with the County.

We would like to especially thank Johnny Gray III, President of the Stentorians, and Firefighter Alexis Kendricks, who have served as our ballot proponents and supporters for the measure. Thank you for your continued support and for all you have done to ensure its success.

As we have said many times, political action is the most important thing we do to affect our wages, hours, and working conditions. This measure is the first citizen initiative ever run in a special district. We will need every member of the community to tell their story. With an aging fleet, outdated communication equipment, and staffing below the national 4-0 standard, we have a lot on the line. We need our members to band together for our future. Let's get this done!

Honoring Brother Roberto and His Family

It is with a heavy heart that we share the active duty death of Fire Fighter Paramedic (FFPM) Dustin Roberto on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

As many of you know, Brother Roberto was assigned to Fire Station 93 in the City of Palmdale. He faithfully served our Department, residents, and communities for nearly five years. We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to Brother Roberto's family and friends.

To ensure the proper care and support of the Roberto family and our personnel, Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone has activated the Department’s chaplains, Peer Support Team, behavioral health clinicians, and Memorial Management Team.

Thank you for respecting the privacy of the Roberto family during this extraordinarily difficult time. If you would like to help, a GoFundMe has been set up to support his wife, Mariah, and their baby, who will be arriving in December. See the link below to donate.
