Long-term committed relationships are difficult at best.
Almost 50 % of all marriages in the United States will end in divorce or separation. Researchers estimate that 41 % of all first marriages end in divorce.
Throw in the additional stressors of 24-hour shifts, recalls, the dangers and exposures to trauma that comes with the job, as well as the sleep deprivation and the normal physiological reactions of the body to the calls for help that are a part of the normal ebbs and flows of each shift you get a clearer picture of some of the additional stress that puts on fire marriages and relationships.
