Friday Update 1-24-25
Updated On: Feb 11, 2025

Brothers and Sisters,

Once again this week, we saw the impact of massive fires in our community, and once again, we saw our members step up to ensure that lives and property were saved.

Thank you to our members, many of whom were scheduled to come home from the Palisades Fire but were redirected to fight the Hughes Fire. Once again, this week, our members demonstrated why we are the best Fire Department in the world. We were able to stop the fast-burning Hughes Fire with minimal structural damages and no loss of life.

Finally, we can never say thank you enough to our incredible Fire Families, wives, husbands, spouses, and partners who have stepped up yet again as members were called to the Hughes Fire. You make this mission possible. Because of your sacrifice, we saved thousands of families and homes his week. Thank you for allowing us to do this work while you care for everything else at home. You are our heroes.
We also continue to assess damage and hazardous materials on both the Palisades and Eaton Fires with our Cal Fire partners as we begin the recovery process for our communities.

Special thank you again to our amazing Peer Support Team for the continued support and resources on the Eaton Fire. Click below to watch the video of the excellent work our LACOFD Peer Support and Peer Support Canines are doing for our members and our community on the Eaton Fire.

RESOURCES FOR MEMBERS

The California Fire Foundation and the IAFF are on the ground with support for residents through the SAVE Card and Disaster Relief. If you are an IAFF Member of Local 1014 or any Local and you have any loss or damage, we have IAFF Disaster Relief.

The California Fire Foundation - our foundation, through the CFF-JAC, supports any Local 1014 Members whose homes have been impacted by fires. Easing that burden is what the California Fire Foundation’s Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency (SAVE) program is all about. It brings immediate, short-term relief to victims of home fires throughout California.

If you are an LA County Fire Fighter or Lifeguard through LACOLA and need help, please reach out to the California Fire Foundation at save@cpf.org or (916) 641-1707.

The IAFF Foundation provides immediate financial assistance to help displaced fire fighters and their families while they continue to serve the surrounding communities.

Disaster Relief funds are available to IAFF members who are displaced from their homes as the result of a disaster. These include man-made disasters, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and other events.

In Solidarity,

President Dave Gillotte and the Local 1014 Executive Board
